2007 Mobility World Congress

This was the website for the Mobility World Congress & Exhibition that was held in Hong Kong from December 4 – 6,2007. It was created to promote the event and provide salient information.

2007 marked the change in name from the Annual 3G World Congress & Mobility Marketplace to the Mobility World Congress & Exhibition. Considered as the third largest mobility event in the world, it was a must attend for many companies. With a new name and theme the organizers wanted to promote the congress as offering a more comprehensive and forward-looking scope of the content. Thus the 2007 Mobility World Congress promised to give equal weight to all aspects of the mobility industry in order to address the ever-evolving challenges that companies face. The 2007 Congress was a business to business senior-level event driven by a heavy-weight conference, a major exhibition and a world-class meeting area in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Once the 2007 Mobility World Congress & Exhibition was over this site's domain registration was allowed to expire and the site disappeared from the web. Recently I discovered that the domain was available, so I bought it with the goal of recreating as much of its original content as possible from archived pages. I did not want someone else to purchase the domain and re-purpose the site for something that had nothing in common with the original purpose of the site. I attended the 2007 event and more such congresses over the following years. I felt this site should be available as a historical reference point.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PAGE CONTAINS SELECTIVE ARCHIVED CONTENT FROM THE ORIGINAL SITE.

Since the site will not be exactly as you remember it, please be indulgent
Now let's take stroll back to 2007 and the Mobility World Congress & Exhibition.

The telecommunications industry in the region is booming with Asia, and more specifically Hong Kong, hosting the ITU World Telecom in 2006. The wireless industry is also continuing to experience huge growth and is seen as a key market by all the global mobile suppliers.

As of September 2006 there were 977 million connections in the Asia Pacific region and this was anticipated to hit the one billion mark by November of that year. In 2005 the Asia Pacific region comprised of 37% or world connections and this is anticipated to rise to 42% by 2010.

The Asia Pacific mobile market, including China and India, is worth US$164 billion and is anticipated to grow by 2010 to US$236 billion. In particular India and China are dominating growth in the mobile phone industry. These markets alone are forecast to add 130 million connections in 2006 and record 22% of new global subscribers in the period between 2005-2010.*

All of these figures make very exciting reading for any company whether they want to break into the Asian market or to continue to increase their market share. The Mobility World Congress & Exhibition is your opportunity to tap into this lucrative market. The combination of a two hall, 5000 sqm exhibition with a congress attracting 1500+ delegates ensures that you meet the perfect mix of senior level decision-makers along with those crucial influencers and specifiers.
